About me

”You must be a sailor before you are a captain”

French Proverb

My background is in dinghy sailing and my sister and I have been Dutch, European and 2 time World Champion (1997 & 2019) in the Vaurien. We also did an Olympic Campaign in the 470 but just missed the qualification. After this intense period I picked up my International Business Studies.

Part of my studies was doing an internship abroad and I went to Aruba. Soon I was hooked on diving and I became a dive instructor working on the “Happy Island” for almost 5 years. I got right back into sailing when I returned to the Netherlands and I started my business career mainly to fund my racing.

After my son passed away in 2015 I struggled with finding a goal in life. I took a big decision and I quit my job, sold my house and took the leap into big boat sailing in 2018.

Since then I crossed the Atlantic 8 times, crossed the Pacific, passed through the Panama Canal and got my YM Ocean (Power & Sail), AEC1, Cruising Instructor, GMDSS, Medical Care Onboard Ships and more…

In 2023 I bought a house again in my hometown, started up my interim Project Management business again and became part owner of Seabrands. Never a boring day!

I am happy to say that my plan B is working out.
